Double degree: HHN and 42 set new standards

In autumn 2023, 42 Heilbronn will be launching its first double degree course - offering a unique concept in Germany: students can combine their degree as a coder at 42 Heilbronn with a Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics at Heilbronn University. The next milestone follows just one year later: as of this semester, students can enrol on the first English-language double degree course in Business Engineering Logistics.

The highlights: with the double degree courses, students no longer have to choose between academic work and practical coding skills. They can learn both in just 3.5 years. This is because around a quarter of the courses completed at 42 can be credited to Business Engineering Logistics at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, and around half of the courses in Business Informatics. Students also benefit from the official study status, which gives them access to Bafög payments and improves their chances of applying for work visas.

Growth from all over Germany

Max Meisinger, Lead of Learning at 42 Heilbronn, emphasizes: “The enormous interest in the business informatics double degree course last year showed us that we had hit a nerve. Some students even transferred to us from other 42 locations.” The new Business Engineering Logistics course offers a decisive advantage, especially for international students: the courses are taught entirely in English, with a German language level B2 required from the fifth semester onwards. Max: “I'm really pleased that we can now offer our students from all over the world - who, incidentally, make up the majority of our community.”

Cooperation as a recipe for success

The renewed alliance with Heilbronn University also shows that the innovative 42 learning concept is meeting with growing interest in the Heilbronn ecosystem. Many students are already actively involved in renowned institutions - whether at TUM or the Ferdinand Steinbeis Institute. Max: “Collaboration is simply part of the DNA of 42 Heilbronn. We know that the best things are created when you bring together as many different people as possible.” The new double degree course therefore also opens up numerous opportunities for future projects - innovative ideas are inevitable.
